Capture the moment — best documentary wedding photos of 2022
2022 was a great year for me as a documentary wedding photographer. Let’s look back at my best 100 documentary wedding photos from the past amazing 12 months.
This year has surrounded me with the best clients I could have imagined, and they have helped me grow as a better wedding photographer then ever.
First, I want to thank all of my clients. You are the most important people in my career and without you, none of the below can even exist. The best part about working with such amazing people is that they encourage and inspire me to do better better and better. My clients allow me to photograph what ever I want, make my photos more interesting, Thank you so much from bottom of my heart.
People are real, weddings are real, weddings photos have no be real. That’s the fundamental thoughts keep going on my mind through the process of photograph every single wedding. As a documentary wedding photographer, I believe that weddings are real, so photos should be real too.
I capture the moments as what are happening. I don’t pose my guests or tell them what needs to do, how to act, where to take clothes on, where to wear shoes, who to hug who, because it just isn’t realistic.
I want my photos to tell a story and be as real as possible. Every wedding is different, so I try to capture what’s unique about my clients — the moments, the emotions, the details and especially all the little moments that not easily be detected.
Documentary photography is the best way to present who you are, what you feel and all the connections with your family and friends. You can show your personality through documentary photos. Your real emotions will show up in every photo because it is taken from a heart, all depends on things are really happening without any guidance and interference.
It’s more than just taking pictures of people and places. It is about capturing the essence of a moment at the right time, right angles. I have been working on improving my ability to take a better picture that tells a stronger story without being manipulated.
Documentary photos record what’s really happening on your wedding day, but doesn’t means dry and boring photos. Documentary photography is not only about what it is, but also about how to see it, how to feel it and how to tell it, whereby same moment will turn out to multiple photos that are essentially different.
I capture all the small details in the timeline of your wedding day, try to record every meaningful emotion and feeling that you and your family, friends have at that time, which is very important when you look back on your precious memories years later.
This selection doesn’t include the standard photos, only select photos which make me feel good and interesting. I really take standard photos, but they are not included in this selection. The standard photos are the ones important too but every photographer will do. That types of photos do not represent who I am as a Cafa liu. I would love to see my clients booked me because who I am, because my personalized perspective, not just because you happen to be looking for an random wedding photographer.
Let us look forward to what surprises next year will bring us.
See you 2023!
